What you need
A current Claude Code installation, the telo app on your iPhone and a finished sync. Claude Code reads what the iPhone has already sent to your telo account; the command below does not upload anything by itself.
If you already added telo as a connector in Claude on the web and sign in to Claude Code with the same Claude account, telo may already be listed under /mcp. In that case you can skip the command and go straight to signing in.
Add the remote server
--scope user makes telo available in every project on this computer, which fits a personal data source. Without it, the server is added only to the current project. Avoid --scope project: it writes the server into a .mcp.json file meant to be committed and shared.
The command stores the address only. No login code or token goes into a configuration file, and nothing about your health is read yet.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user telo https://telo.health/mcpSign in from inside Claude Code
- Start Claude Code and type /mcp.
- Choose telo and select the option to authenticate. Your browser opens the telo sign-in page.
- Sign in with the same email you use in the telo app, review the requested access and approve it.
- Return to the terminal. telo should now show as connected in /mcp.
Check that the connection is usable
- Run claude mcp list in another terminal to confirm that telo is configured.
- Ask Claude Code to use telo to list the available metrics and date ranges.
- Confirm that it actually calls a telo tool and returns real coverage. Stop if it says the server is unavailable or answers without calling a tool.
A first prompt for your records
Claude Code can write the script, run it and show you the chart, which is the part a chat window does not do. Ask it to state which dates it read before trusting a trend.
Use telo to read my sleep for the last 90 days. Save a CSV with one row per night, plot total sleep with a 7 day rolling average, and list the nights with no data instead of filling them.Keep health records out of your repositories
Anything Claude Code saves lands in the folder you opened it in. Run health analyses in a private folder, not inside a work repository, and check git status before committing.
Records that telo returns are also processed by Anthropic as part of the conversation, as with any other tool result.
Troubleshooting
If /mcp shows telo as failed or needing authentication, run the sign-in again from /mcp. If the browser does not open, copy the link Claude Code prints. Check that the URL is exactly https://telo.health/mcp.
If the connection works but records are missing, check the account and the last sync in the telo app. A successful sign-in does not mean the iPhone granted Apple Health permissions or finished sending your history.
Sources and availability
Plans, regions and interfaces can change. Check the official sources before setting up.
Practical questions
Does Claude Code use the Claude health integration from the iPhone?
No. That integration is a feature of the Claude iPhone app, and Claude Code runs on your computer. To read Apple Health in Claude Code you need a separate MCP source, such as telo.
Do I need the command if I already use telo in Claude on the web?
Maybe not. With the same Claude account, the connector may already show under /mcp. If it does, authenticate there; adding it again from the terminal creates a second entry for the same server.
Do the files Claude Code creates leave my computer?
Files stay in the folder where you opened Claude Code. What leaves is what the conversation sends: records returned by telo pass through Anthropic. If the folder is a repository, a commit can publish the analysis, so work in a private folder.
